Whether you want to visit Canada or welcome your parents and grandparents for an extended stay β we prepare a strong application to maximize your approval chances.
Two distinct programs, two different realities. Choosing the right visa depends on your family situation, your intended length of stay, and the immigration status of your host in Canada.
For any temporary visit to Canada
For parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens/PRs
The visitor visa (also called a Temporary Resident Visa) is required to enter Canada if you are a national of a country that is not visa-exempt.
The visitor visa allows temporary stays in Canada for tourism, family visits, or business purposes. The authorized length of stay is generally 6 months, but the border officer makes the final decision at the port of entry.
A multiple-entry visa valid for up to 10 years allows you to travel freely to Canada without reapplying for a visa at each entry. The key to success lies in a file that clearly demonstrates your ties to your home country and your intention to return.
The main cause of refusal: the officer is not convinced you will return home. Our role is to build a file that addresses this concern point by point.
The Super Visa is the preferred option for families who wish to welcome their parents or grandparents to Canada for an extended period β up to 5 years per visit.
The Super Visa allows parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents to stay in Canada for up to 5 consecutive years per entry β compared to 6 months for a regular visitor visa. The visa is valid for up to 10 years with multiple entries.
To be eligible, your child or grandchild in Canada (the host) must prove they meet the minimum income threshold established by the government based on household size. In 2026, this threshold corresponds to the Low-Income Cut-Off (LICO) β approximately $36,000β$55,000 CAD depending on the number of people in the household.
You must also obtain Canadian health insurance of at least $100,000 CAD, valid for a minimum of 1 year, from a Canadian insurer. This is a non-negotiable requirement.
The Super Visa is subject to specific conditions for both the applicant and the host. Here are the criteria needed for a successful application.
You must be the parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. This relationship must be proven with official documents (birth certificates, marriage certificates).
The child or grandchild inviting you must demonstrate income at least equal to the Low-Income Cut-Off (LICO) for their household size. A notice of assessment, T4s, and pay stubs are required.
Coverage of at least $100,000 CAD from a Canadian company is required, valid for a minimum of 1 year. It must cover medical care, hospitalization, and repatriation.
A medical exam with an IRCC-designated physician is mandatory for the Super Visa. Results are valid for 12 months. Allow 2β4 weeks to get an appointment.
The host must write a formal letter committing to house and support you in Canada. This letter must follow a specific format required by IRCC.
The vast majority of applicants must provide biometric data (fingerprints and photo) at a designated collection centre in their country of residence.
