The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) is one of the Express Entry categories. It is for people who have skilled work experience, in Canada or abroad, and who plan to live outside Québec.
Basic requirements
According to IRCC, including:
- at least 1 year of continuous, paid work experience (1,560 hours in total) in a TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3 occupation, within the last 10 years;
- a minimum language level of CLB 7 in all four abilities, with an approved test;
- education: a Canadian credential, or a foreign credential with an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA);
- at least 67 points out of 100 on the selection grid (language, education, experience, age, arranged employment, adaptability);
- sufficient funds to settle, unless you can already legally work in Canada and have a valid job offer;
- the intention to live outside Québec and admissibility to Canada.
These requirements are published by IRCC and may change.
FSWP, CRS ranking and invitation
The 67 points on the grid establish eligibility for the program. The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score then ranks profiles in the Express Entry pool, and only an invitation from IRCC lets you submit an application. Reaching 67 points therefore does not guarantee an invitation.
